Binki Bye Bye

Oh, I have been so excited to post this great news. As some of you know our big girl has been attached to her binki, aka pacifier. We have tried so many times to get rid of it and it just wasn't working. Well, the good news came to pass on Sunday.
We usually try not to bring it to church but we find that if we don't she will throw a fit during sacrament meeting and that's just not good. So we give in and bring it along with her blanket. She is just like Linus from Charlie Brown. Anyway, Ryan took her to nursery, and she never goes with her binki, but this time, some how, she got away with it and took it with her. Daddy must have given in but it paid off. I went and picked her up from nursery and like usual, the teacher handed me her shoes and hair bows, I tell ya this girl doesn't keep anything on, and off we went. I was unaware that she went to nursery with her binki so, I wasn't looking for it as I was shoes and everything else. We got in the car and the question arose from the back seat, "binki mommy?" I told her I didn't know where it was and then daddy spoke up and said, "Hollie, don't you remember you took it with you to nursery?" "No dadda, binki" says Hollie. This went on for a few minutes and then we hear Hollie in the backseat say, "binki bye bye, church, all gone." We said, "that's right binki bye bye at the church and it's all gone." We have now gone 4 days with NO BINKI and we are SOOO PROUD of our Big Girl. Sometimes she will ask for it and all we have to do is remind her that it is lost and then she remembers and thinks nothing of it. HURRAY FOR HOLLIE!! We thought this day would never come and I am so proud of her. We still have the blanket and that's just fine. I can deal with a blanket better than a binki in her mouth. Man, I just didn't like that thing and now we don't have to worry about it any more!

Ethan

Okay, since there have been lots of pictures of Hollie I had to include a couple cute pictures of our growing, chubby little boy. As you can see I LOVE to take pictures and when the kids are good and happy I take lots. Thank goodness for a camera to capture all the fun and adorable moments.

Canyon Lake

Last Thursday we had the opportunity to go to Canyon Lake with some friends of ours who have 2 waverunners. Hollie was so excited to go on a "boat fast" she says. Thursday are great days for us. Ryan is only at the office half day and then gets to come home and spend the rest of the day with us, we LOVE Thursdays!! We made it up to the lake just around 1pm. The weather was just perfect, about 85 degrees, and sunny. Hollie loved playing in the water and LOVED watching all the boats go by. I was excited to be able to sit out and catch some sun. We couldn't bring Ethan so he stayed at a friend of ours and enjoyed his time sleeping and getting LOTS of attention. We were probably hanging out on the beach for about an hour before we went on the waverunners just chatting and relaxing. And then, yes there is always an, "and then" in the Larson family. We decided to go out on the waverunners and within 10 minutes of us being out these DARK clouds came rolling over the mountains, the wind came and was blowing SO hard and then the rain was righ behind it. Oh my GOODNESS, it went from absolutley gorgeous to FREEZING cold within minutes. We were out pretty far and since I was sitting on the back with Hollie inbetween us all the COLD water was hitting MY back and let me just tell you it was COLD!!!! We immediately started heading back laughing and screaming all at the same time. Ofcourse, there was a no wake zone for what felt like an eternity, but we finally made it and Hollie and I jumped off the waverunner and ran under the patio and bundled up with towels. Poor Hollie was freezing but she is one tough cookie. We were all laughing and believe it or not it was fun. I love adventures like that, that's just what makes life fun and exciting. Within 40 minutes the storm was gone and it was beautiful outside and everyone was back to playing. It was a great time and very adventurous. Thanks for the fun and hopefully we'll do it again sometime.

Chocolate Chip Cookie

Baking cookies is not something rare around here and neither is eating cookie dough. Cookie Dough, we feel, is the best part of it all. We love to bake some cookies and then save cookie dough, eat it and put it on ice cream, YUMMY!!

So, one day Hollie and I decided we wanted some cookies and let me tell you I didn't even get the flour in and Hollie was sticking her little fingers in the dough. I told her she had to wait till there was flour and it would taste a lot better. Well, once the flour got in she dug in. There was no stopping her! She loved it and once the chocolate chips were put in she was all about chocolate. I tell ya, she must hang around me to much, we LOVE chocolate! I have to say this girl is also addicted to Chocolate Milk. If I would let her she would drink it all day. I allow her to have it once a day and after that for some odd reason the, "cocolate all gone" (that's how Hollie says it) The chocolate just disapears and is no where in site. Hey it works and I will stick with it as long as I can.

The finger just wasn't good enough!

Planting a Garden

My great and wonderful husband had this grand idea to make a small garden and teach Hollie how to care for it. I thought it was so cute and such a great idea. He and Hollie went out and bought some watermelon seeds and the necessary potting soil for them. Ryan had made an area for the garden and did all the necessary preparations for it. On Saturday Ryan and Hollie decided to go ahead and plant the seeds. They planted 3 seeds and 2 weeks later they are growing and you can see the vine's. There is a lot of excitement around here and we are waiting to see a baby watermelon. Here are a couple cute pictures of the event. I really think Hollie just enjoyed playing in the dirt with daddy.

Hollie loved playing in the dirt and took charge of the project.

Ethan had to be a part of the project also. He loved being outside and enjoyed watching Daddy and Hollie.

Pictures of the Kiddos

Hollie's newest and most favorite thing is to hold Ethan on her lap and have her picture taken. She loves holding Ethan. She says to me, "Hollie's turn mommy", it's so cute I just love it.

I have to selfishly say that we have two of the cutest kids.

Where has time gone??

Where has time gone, I ask myself? It has definetly slipped right through my fingers. It's been almost a MONTH since I have posted and I think that is the longest ever! Much to catch up on so I better get started.
Well, my reason for not posting is that I just have not had any time to sit at the compute for a length of time and download pictures and do a little write up. Life has been busy and many things have taken place. Let me start off by explaining why I haven't had time. Well, our sweet little Ethan has just had a hard time adjusting to life outside the womb. A few posts back I mentioned that we had him on nutramigen, well, to make a really long story short that didn't help him. He continued to be uncomfortable and we just were not sure where to go or what to do. So, back to the doctors we went. We have been there a lot lately and I think they all know us by name. Anyway, they gave Ethan a prescription for zantac and figured it must be acid reflux. I just love how doctors assume things, but I do have to say they know more than me. We tried that for a week and we thought we found the problem, Nope. I was back to the doctor's for Ethan's 2 month appointment and the advice we were then given was to switch him from zantac to prevacid and then a week later to soy formula. That was just not sitting right with me. I felt this little guy's body can't take all this switching and medication. Ryan and I both didn't know what to do until... It was the next day a Wednesday evening and Ryan was out with the youth and Ethan screamed for 3 hours straight. I was completely lost and did not know what to do. I tried EVERYTHING and nothing was helping. I finally just put him in the bouncy chair and let him cry while I cried myself. My awesome neighbor, I know, was inspired to come over and drop off some of her insurance information for Ryan at that time and she so kindly took Ethan for a couple hours and let me relax and get my thoughts straight. I spent some time with Hollie and then it was time for her to go to bed. Once she was in bed I sat on the stairs, starred at Ethan's picture and just cried. My thoughts were this, I love you sooo much and all I want is for you to feel better. I know you are right where you are suppose to be and please help me to know what I can do for you. I love you Ethan more than you will ever know. I called a awesome friend of mine who I know was so busy getting things ready to leave on a trip and she took the time to talk to me, listen to me and just be there for me. Thank you, I am so grateful to have a friend like you. Durring that time I felt that both Ethan and I needed a blessing. As soon as Ryan got home we called a friend of ours and he came over and helped give Ethan and me a blessing. It was a beautiful and spiritual experience for all of us. Later that evening Ryan felt that maybe we should go ahead and switch his formula for the 5th time to Soy. We weren't to excited about soy, but at this point we needed to find something that would help this little guy. And low and behold I think we figured out a big part of the problem, he is ALLERGIC to milk. I have to say since we have switched him to soy he has been a different baby. He has been much happier, is smiling a lot more, cooing and he is just the cutest baby. He still has a few moments but what baby doesn't? I am so glad that we were led in the right direction and that we have finally figured it out. He is sleeping a lot better which means that we are sleeping a lot better too. I am finally catching up on a few things I haven't been able to do, but that's okay because I was right where I was suppose to be. I am so glad that I can be home with our kids and that I could just sit on the couch and hold Ethan all day.
Well, I still made a long story long. Oh well, I haven't written this down anywhere so now I have it for myself.
